Ikebana principles in this month's arrangement:
Our lesson will focus on using seasonal materials for a special occasion. Since these materials are only available at certain times of the year, they evoke the season, and special occasions like holidays or festivals. We’ll be using white pine, which is often used in New Year arrangements in Japan.
Flower care:
Try not to handle the head of the lily as they can easily fall off, and touching the petals can cause bruising.
Gently remove pollen from the lillies using a tissue. Be careful not to spread the pollen as it may stain.
Pro tip:
Check each side of your arrangement as you arrange, since it will be viewed from every angle.
Cut branches at a slant to make inserting them into the kenzan easier.
