Ikebana principles in this month's arrangement:
The three main elements in an ikebana arrangement are mass, line, and color:

1) Mass is the grouping together of materials to create volume in an arrangement

2) Line refers to creating negative space - in ikebana we arrange the space around our materials in addition to arranging our materials

3) Color means having a well-coordinated color palette, whether it be monochromatic or contrasting colors.

Focus on these three elements as you create your arrangement.

Pro tip:
Cut your stems at an angle to make it easier to insert them into the kenzan. If you have difficulty inserting your curly willow, try inserting it vertically, and then pushing it into position.
