Our lesson this season focuses on negative space. In ikebana we arrange our flowers, leaves and branches in addition to the space around our materials. Negative space is just as important as our fresh materials, and in today’s arrangement it’s a focal point. It allows each orchid to shine and creates movement by drawing your eye along the lines of your curly willow and dendrobium.
Care tip:
Submerge your entire orchid in cool water for 10 mins to revive it.
Pro tip:
Cut your stems at an angle to make inserting them into the kenzan easier.
